Welcome to 2012!

Our first three school days of 2012 have been FULL! We've worked hard to fill up the post-Christmas, empty hallways. When you have time, come by and see our snowmen and snowwomen and to read our New Year's Resolutions.
Here are a few other things we want to make you aware of...

OPEN HOUSE
On Sunday, TSA will have our first Open House for prospective families. It begins at 2:00. Please be sure to let your friends and family know ~ this is a great opportunity to introduce them to your wonderful school.

TESTS
Next week, we will be back on schedule with Spelling, Reading, and Math. We will be reading, "The Emperor and the Kite" in our Reading book. A comprehension quiz over this story will be given on Thursday, January 12. Wordly Wise Lesson 9 words were introduced today and the test over them will be next Friday, January 13. The next Math test will also be Friday, January 13. There is a Math test alert in today's Friday Folder that needs to be signed and returned.

FIELD TRIP
In your child's Friday folder you will find some information about our next field trip. We are heading back to the Grand Opera House for our final GrandKids performance this year. We will leave the school at 8:45 on February 7 to see "The Magic School Bus." Please look for the form that indicates whether or not your child's admission is paid or if payment is still needed. If you would like to chaperone this trip, there is a place on the form to sign up. Tickets are $5.00 per person. ALL MONEY FOR THIS FIELD TRIP IS DUE MONDAY, JANUARY 9.

REPORT CARDS
Elementary students will receive their report cards on Monday, January 9 for the second quarter.  Attendance records are not on the report card; if you would like to know your child's total absences/tardies to date, please contact your child's homeroom teacher. These do not need to be returned to school.

EDLINE
Our understanding is that we will begin adding grades to Edline for the 3rd quarter next week. We will upload the grades on Friday before we leave for the day. They should be available to you by Saturday morning. The grades posted will be the grades that came home in that Friday's folder.  Classwork completed on Friday will be posted the next Friday. You should be able to see your child's grades and averages for each subject. If you haven't accessed Edline yet, please do so soon. If you have misplaced your access information, please contact Mrs. Karen Vinson in the front office.

BOOK REPORT #2 and Mr. Popper's Penguins
Information on Book Report #2 will come home next week. This report will be due Friday, February 17. Remember, your child's book needs to be at least 100 pages and a different genre from the book used for the last book report. It is strongly recommended that your child select and read the book for this book report by Friday, February 3. Students will be required to read Mr. Popper's Penguins beginning Monday, February 6 and finishing by Friday, February 24.
